ABOUT US
The African Union- African Diaspora Sixth Region (AUADS), European Chapter, was created by African Diasporas representation of 13 European countries to acts as a Central organization for African diasporas organizations in European countries, to coordinate intra–European related activities as well as to implement Article 3(q) (amended) of the Constitutive Act of the African Union (AU): [The Union shall] invite and encourage the full participation of the African Diaspora as an important part of our continent, in the building of the African Union.
The African Union - African Diaspora consist of people of African origin living outside the continent, irrespective of their citizenship and nationality and who are willing to contribute to the development of the continent, the building of a United African and its Diasporas.
The African Diaspora therefore consists of the African descendants who as a result of either voluntary and in voluntary emigration and their descendants throughout the world, to (in) places such as the Americas (including the United States , Canada, the Caribbean, Central America and South America ), Europe and Asia. Much of the African Diasporas are descended from people that were sold into slavery during the Transatlantic Slave Trade, with the largest population living in Brazil.
Accepting the Invitation of the African Union:
Considering the invitation of the African Union to the African Diaspora to join the AU in its amended Constitutive Act July, 2003 (as part of the protocol on the Amendments to the Constitutive Act of the African Union, article 3(q), Considering that the African Diaspora is already requested as constitutive part of the composition of the African Union organs such as the ECOSOCC;
Recalling the necessity and the willingness of African Diaspora to contribute to the resolution of Africans Problems and to the building of a strong, prosperous, integrated, united and peaceful African continent and its Diasporas;
Convinced that the African Diaspora’s participation in the activities of the African Union is a guarantee for its success;
Recalling the necessity of a strong, coherent, United and comprehensive organization of the African Diaspora in Europe as defined by AU and the present constitution,
Recalling the necessity for this organisation to be an official and structural part of African Union, and thus to be recognised as such;
We the African Union - African Diaspora Community in Europe Region (Facilitators Groups of the Europe Region) and on behalf of the entire African Diaspora in Europe, representatives from Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Austria, Russia, Italy and Israel, at the African Diaspora Working Group Conference that took place in Paris from 9 – 10 February 2008, decided to build the African Union- African Diaspora 6th Region organisation in Europe.
